Benchmark Media Systems MPS-400 4 channel Mic Pre Amp
This is a class A hi-end four channel mic preamp that originally cost 2700 dollars. This is comparable to GMS and other super accurate mic pres. Not having a transformer means it has more accuracy with slamming transients with a much quieter noise floor. There is no fake bottom end, it is very real and if you have low freqs in the room, then there will be glorious lows. Benchmark is known most for its digital converters but their pres are on the same level. I have used this with my UA Apollo. Replacing the Apollo preamps allows more bandwidth, wider image (left to right AND front to back) and it costs 200 bucks per channel. Zero issues with this - it's a delight to use. When found, these Benchmarks go quite cheap because of issues with the power supply, or needing repair in general, yet this one has been maintained well and recently went to a great tech for a checkup and is running beautifully.
You will notice how bnatural and beautiful everything sounds. Also, the silence between the notes. This is very quiet compared to most preamps. Ask any questions you might have.
