STUDER 189 MKII circa 1976 (amazingly clean inside) broadcast/recording console is up for sale.. Service test equipment or KRK monitors seen in one of photos is not for sale or included in this listing.
Priced to invite offers etc... But this is VERY rare and right up there for High end Tracking and summing, like API, NEVE, Sounds beautiful... Used for tracking and summing you'll find it hard to better at any price. Match to your DAW let it do the automation and you've got a KILLER system! I will take a sensible offer, and will consider analog synths, outboard, and even a cheaper console in PX (must be compact though, no room or use for 48 channels etc) - any specific pictures or video happy to help with.
Please note - Any numbers showing in pics are just paper stickers that were used when servicing, come off easy, will be removed. This is extremely rare, even rarer in this condition, even rarer in this spec as they were pretty much all custom built.. It's clearly evident it lived in air conditioned room most it's life, no signs of smoke damage throughout. Studer = exquisite quality in build and sound with fantastic reliability. Please do your homework, these dont come up for sale often. They even pair up with the A800 tape machines and EMT plates as this has the remote controls built in. (Actual EMT plate or A800 not included in this listing though). Discrete CLASS A and full of transformers on all channels plus dual line amps and masters. X 20 MONO Line / PRE amp / EQ modules with presence - The mic pre's take a mic or line input and are transformer balanced, plus they sound incredible and can live with NEVE / Api, infact they have been choice over api and Neve in mic shootouts sometimes etc plus the Pultec inspired inductor eq / filters / presence sounds beautiful. X 2 STEREO Line / PRE amp /EQ modules.X 6 Booster channels (transformer balanced to line level if required) ideal for sends or balance outs. X 20 -10db direct outs on all channels.
X 1 STEREO Compressor, excellent PYE style serviced and sounds great on drums. X 2 STEREO MONITOR modules (MONO switch is option to check mix etc). X 1 Tape transport A80 REMOTE - can work with B57 too I think - never tested either, don't have either, but can't see not working.
X 1 Built in Mono speaker PFL monitor and great to check MIX on. She was originally a Broadcast console, some fitments are hard to explain and some obvious, neat broadcast switches / lights removed from bridge , but nothing effecting use. Always said Id add something there but never did. SPARES include a 3rd Fully rebuilt PSU and MASTER fader plus blanks and other parts..
24 : 4 overall config with dual masters and stereo/ or two mono compression. Full of Custom hand built STUDER loveliness!
ALL lower modules, Line Amps etc PSU etc, recently serviced, and in fantastic condition. Also has x2 very rare 40W orig STUDER power amps (rebuilt recently) to feed Yamaha NS10's - These NS10's come with this console, very good working order, sound great on the AMPS.
Sends MIX out, tape out etc etc.. Monitor out to powered pair I have Event Opals and the NS10s..
I'm keeping the Event Opals, not for sale, thank you. Comes with full Studer Manual in German (orig) and PDF in English and German also. Beautiful condition throughout with very rare dual expensive STEREO NTP mirror meters built into bridge. ALL working, but not trying to say 100% perfect, as she's over 40 years old.
Some servicing is always needed each year, and time to time, but its been amazingly reliable. Any inspection and test welcome on collection. Its pretty compact, hence Light home Studio use over past 3 years, smoke and pet free! Fully modular, so easy to work on while use the console still, and very compact on it's own original stand so ideal for smaller studios, although some big studios use these for tracking then mix on SSL etc. Hardly a crackly pot or fader in sight, much, much loved and any obvious little obvious service items will be sorted before sale, and console can be demonstrated on collection. This console has been serviced, checked, calibrated and only recapped where necessary but all LM301 op amps throughout replaced with higher slew rate, better op amps, these are not signal path as I understand, Also ALL death CAPs removed and replaced. So, THIS is NOT a 100% recapped console, as there was no need, however it was re capped where needed of course and every module fully inspected checked to spec and tolerance of remaining caps etc, and serviced over an 18 month period that ended only 12 months ago. Since then hardly a single fault worth noting.I will be moving house soon and funds needed, to set up a new studio space, wish I could keep. I'm still doing lottery. If it doesn't sell I'll just have to work out a way to keep, at least I've put it up for sale! May be up for sale in various other places also, so reserve right to remove.
Outside UK I will have to check, so please prices quoted as a guide. Finally, some of the pictures make modules appear different shades, they are not, it's just the light, all knob caps present, no broken switches or bad marks, some input modules have track label facility, others don't, identical otherwise.
